for everyone
The light was just turning red, so I slowed to a stop with two cars in front of me at the intersection. While I waited for the light to turn green, I noticed cars pulling up behind. After looking down at the radio to switch the station, I glanced up and saw that the light was green. As I went to shift the car into 1st and prepare to start moving.... WHAM this semi-delirious just-back-from-the-Jerry-Springer-show-looking white trash excuse of a Florida driver rammed me from behind.

What I can't for the life of me understand is how it's possible to rear-end someone when both cars were stopped for a minute and the car in front still hasn't moved.

Same situation happened to me a few months ago, but when I looked at the woman’s license her birth year was 1914. My friend Sabby and I could not hold our laughter in when I was taking down all of her information. Ultimately things worked out for the best as she ended up putting the claim through her insurance (after realizing that the damage that she offered me 25$ for touch up paint on the spot) was more like 1800$ when I took it to her mechanic. Needless to say, we were ok and my car is fixed now and it was at her expense, but my last rear-ending was by a typical uninsured Florida motorist and that one came out of my pocket. Sorry to hear about your luck Pez.

so what do you guys think the way FL is, is it safer to pay the extra on your insurance for coverage in an accident with someone driving an uninsured vehicle ?
tazfreak86 wrote on May 7, '04
I hear you on that one. Not to mention he was uninsured it was a rental car he wasn't suppose to be driving.

people in the south drive like shit. thats why it happened. i was at a red light in atlanta, all of a sudden i hear a skid, then bam! the car next to me got rear ended something terrible. for the most part, people who live where you do aren't terribly clever. driving is not easy. sorry about yuor car.

This bites big time! I'm sorry Peter. Drivers out here do suck and I'm sure that's why my insurance went up 50% upon moving here.

Yes, absolutely because when I originally was being cheap (or maybe broke) and did not buy uninsured motorist and since then have modified my policy adding that and a few others. I was really shocked when I found out that adding the uninsured motorist only increased my payment 13$ monthly. So, yes in the great state of Florida (a.k.a. The No Fault State) I do recommend good insurance and low deductibles for the simple fact that we are getting overcrowded, lots retire here, tons of foreign drivers, as well as tourists. It's crazy out there, all drive defensively (and Peter for you and I, no more stopping at lights).

She was about 40 years old, but seemed really "out of it." I'm not sure if it was the shock of the accident or if she was on drugs/alcohol. Since it was 1pm I assumed she was sober....

Maybe the Mercedes SL55.....

I do love my M5 though. And by love I really mean in an almost-problematic-incredibly-obsessive-almost-inappropriate way ;-)

Did you tell the cops that?! If she's white trash, she drinks PABST Blue Ribbon in a can with a koozie and pulls from a Lucky Strike while she drives.

Get uninsured motorist. I would say for about half of the accidents I see in my office, one of the parties involved has no coverage. Uninsured motorist actually becomes the insurance for the deadbeat who hit you.

Pez-
A teenager rear ended the company Taurus, but caused little damage..~ $500. However, when asked for license, registration and insurance, my insurnace was expired (left the new one from Fleet in the office....so I had to pay $100 for court and failure to carry proper ID....the teenage, got off with a warning and paid cash to avoid a claim.

Later, OPIE

DUde getting rear ended anywhere sucks. Just be glad you were not in Hillcrest or West Hollywood, CA. I got plowed by this 85 yr old man in a 745, I was in my Sedan Deville and he hit me at a stop light going 45 mile per ... Needless to say I was out of work for 2 mos with neck and back problems whihc finally required surgery. I sued his ass, he put all his assets in Trusts and now I have to hire specialists to track his assets down even though I have a judegement. Meanwhile I have about 30 k of unpaid medical bills and may never collect from him or his insurance comapny.
Count your blessings dude....

i was just rear ended in florida. the girl who hit me wasin her boss's car, he is insured. i filed a claim but his insurance is telling me that they have tried to car the insured and he isnt calling back and that until they hear from him they won't start working on my car or anything.
gdorsam wrote on May 27, '06
I bet he was greek. Remember, the shortest time interval is the time it takes for the car behind you to beep (um I mean ram) you from behind.

Is it me or was this the 37th time you've been hit?
